C6 was amazing!

On Saturday, Feb 24th, we had the 5th (or is it the 6th?) annual C6 College Praise Night at Lakeview Church in Northbrook.  The praise time was amazing!  I can't remember the last time I jumped and danced for so long in awe and praise of our Lord.  The sermon was phenomenal!  People were either crying or sniffling near the end.

The Lord used Pastor Mitchel Lee (from Community Fellowship Church - www.commfell.org) mightily by convicting so many people to apply Paul's words in Philippians Ch. 3:  "...forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead" in light of our past mistakes and positive accomplishments that we carry with us as baggage.  It was wonderful to partner up with him for the event.

It's sad many people missed it this year, though, what with the insane snow fall that layered on inches of dangerously slippery ice on the roads.  But I won't forgive those NU kids who decided to attend the Pan Asian Male Beauty Pageant, instead.  What's up with that?!  Ha, just kidding... or am I?  o.O

Anyways, here's a video of the body worship team that performed that night.  It sucked that the version of the song that the A/V guys used was not the one the team trained for, so it made them fumble a bit. Overall, though, the performance was stupendous!

It was like love at first sight...

My co-worker introduced me to a group of people two weeks ago and the sound they produced was like a party in my ears, and everyone was invited.  I couldn't help but feel like I was listening to music from Little Miss Sunshine (which is a great movie, by the way) because of the awesomely feel-good, awkwardly-joyful melodies.

Today was such a blah day at work, but then I heard track number 3 and I was reminded that "everything was gonna be ok."  I must've played through this one song on repeat for almost an hour, and with the miracle of technology you can enjoy it similarly to how I did.  Behold, teh Youtube m4dn3s$:

P.S. If anyone wants the album let me know.

Time is on a Bullet Train to Tokyo

Has it really been almost three weeks now?  Wow!

Well, I just wanted to give a quick update before I busted out the promised photo journal, since, knowing me, it probably won’t be finished for at least a couple more weeks.

El Salvador was amazing!  If I were ever to become a long-term missionary, El Salvador would definitely be high on my list of ministry locations.  This being year 3 that Bethel has sent a team there, I anticipate going there for several more years to come.  Each year it becomes harder and harder to express what it’s like to serve in El Salvador, but hopefully more and more people will allow themselves to be used during this opportunity - if not in El Salvador, then anywhere else will do.

To hold you guys over until the photo journal’s out, here’s a picture of Mr. Doug, my roommate/“body” (you know, ‘cause they kept asking us to check our “body,” though I know they meant “buddy”) for the missions trip. (My politically-minded sista, Sarah Lee, is in the back giving us the, “I’mma cut you, foo, if you vote Republican!” look.)

Can’t you tell he was excited?  He got to dance with a monkey, yo… and it’s on film, too!  Man, I’m gonna put that stuff on Youtube, but first, I gotta organize all the thoughts and images in my head.

Much peace to you all, fine citizens.

P.S.  I loved the message in this quote.  Like to hear it?  Here it goes:

“If life gives you lemons you don't have to make lemonade; you can trade them for oranges and make orange juice.”

Comisionado - Commissioned

Black is the color of our disobedient hearts that

always lust after that which will never satisfy.

Red is the color of the blood that was shed to

pardon our wayward hearts and restore us.

White is the color of the forgiveness that liberates us

once we truly accept the gift that has been given to us.

Green is the color of growth that we experience

in our lives once our age-old relationship is restored.

Gold is the color of the streets that pave the roads

of the city that will house those who are being saved.

I'm sorry for the person I became.

I'm sorry that it took so long for me to change.

I'm ready to try and never become that way again

'cause who I am hates who I've been.

Reí y Canté - Me Atreví a Amar

She captivated me at first;
Her glow and aura beamed so bright
That moments later I would cry,
“I laughed and sang - I dared to love!”

The sight of her still seems so clear,
Her joyous smile I once did glimpse;
I still recall the times we spoke,
I laughed and sang - I dared to love.

Her wit and grace I did apprize
As one who hides a treasure great,
I thought if only I confessed,
“I laughed and sang - I dared to love…”

Our fates did not allow a lapse,
Or time enough for me to act;
Was it a crime simply because
I laughed and sang - I dared to love?

Alas, she is no more, I fear,
As time has done its deed, and more;
But I rejoice for I, my friends,
I laughed and sang - I dared to love.
